Question: When the shidduch is agreed, לבן & בתואל ask for רבקה to stay for a period of time, but then agree to ask her opinion. Why then is the question if she will go, rather than when she would like to go?


Approach: Seemingly, we can suggest that once it was decided that רבקה would decide how long she'd stay at home before leaving, it was only appropriate for her permission to be given to the marriage in the first place. We don't hear the question about when to leave since the עבד was determined to leave that morning.

Question:  Why are the laws of בכור not written together with the other קרבנות rules earlier in the פרשה? Approach: The rule of בכור being only allowed to be eaten in המקום אשר יבחר ה' is mentioned in the earlier section. This section comes to teach us the rule of the בכור בעל מום, and the special leniencies that apply, allowing the animal to still be eaten - and anywhere. It thus could be viewed as similar to the released slave, who no longer is limited to his master's domain (the rules mentioned just before).
